Interactive product design
Alarm Bot was a small project that I worked on with my project partner, JinZhi Ye, for an Interactive Product Design Class. The goal of the project was to create a product with "personality". The personality trait we were trying to embody was that of annoyingness. We wanted to create something that was irritating to the user. The two bells on top rotate away from the user when they try to silence the alarm.
concept sketch 1
Concept 1 was an alarm clock that turns away from the user when the user reaches for the snooze button. The idea was to mimic the movement of an animal that does not want to be pet.
concept sketch 2
The second concept was of a webcam that follows the user based on proximity sensors, which would be located in the ear. We wanted to mimic the movement of a curious animal.
concept sketch 3
For concept 3, we wanted to create a mouse that seeks our the users hand.
concept sketch 4
Concept 4 was a mirror that uses sensors to be always facing the user.

The Master Controller senses for the hand’s location and then sends a value to the Receiver telling it how much to rotate the servo motor. The Master Controller also controls the LED screen animations that show the eye looking in the direction of the hand. The red button stops the process.
